THEN:
I was born and raised in West Michigan on a small farm, with two brothers, my mom and dad. I think I am more then lucky to have a strong, close family who has always supported each other. Growing up my Dad was a coach and teacher who had played football in high school, college, and was drafted to the Cincinnati Browns. He taught my brothers and I the importance of fitness, and encouraged us to workout and participate in sports. My Mom was also into fitness, and did her best to provide healthy meals for us, on a tight budget. We also worked as a family to run our water garden business. This taught me many lessons about responsibility, dedication and hard work. While I was not the biggest fan of spending my summers cleaning ponds, I did take away a lot from the experience most kids don't have the opportunity to. I am so grateful for the way I was raised and for the guidance we were given on the little things, like water over pop. My parents are great people, and I am so thankful I have them as examples in raising my own family.BUT, I had {and still do} a love for comfort foods like Mac n Cheese, pizza and pasta, and this caught up to me around age 9 or 10. This can be the beginning of your "awkward" years already, and adding extra unnecessary weight to it does not help. While I was in sports, it was in 6th grade that I started running the track with my mom after school everyday. By 8th grade, I had lost the extra pounds for the most part, and remained active in 3 sports year round through high school.
After high school I joined a co-ed volleyball and softball team with some friends, but started to notice around the fall of 2005, that I needed something more. I was packing on extra pounds and something had to change. That is when I started my first workout with Shaun T, Hip Hop Abs. It was an energetic workout program, with an easy nutrition plan, I saw results and I was hooked! I went on to try other programs like Pilates, Yoga and Turbo Jam. In the spring of 2007 I met Josh, my now husband. He was in his junior year of college and played football, so he was great motivation to stay in shape! By the winter of 2009, we both had begun to slack a little since life had gotten busy with work, I went back to school, planning our wedding etc. That is when we decided to try P90x. It was and is a great program, we both saw results and it got us hooked on working out again! Soon after, I discovered Shaun T's new workout, INSANITY. It was and still is amazing! I think I have completed the program 10 times since 2010, and I still continue to fall back on it. It helped me shed weight for my wedding, several vacations, and even some of my baby weight. (I also am a proud victim of INSANITY the Asylum another Shaun T program, along the way somewhere.) I had my daughter in March of 2013. I gained around 30-35lbs with her, and was down to about 10 to go after completing INSANITY yet again. I realized I needed a change for a while and I had been wanting FOCUS T25 since it came out, but financially we just could not afford the investment. Christmas rolled around and the only thing I wanted was the program. That is when I dropped my last 15 lbs of baby weight and fell in love with Shaun T all over again!
NOW:
Most recently, I am in the middle of a 21 Day Fix program. So far, Josh and I have both seen results and have already lost some of the unhealthy cravings we had before! I am excited to complete this program and start another one after! Especially with my new knowledge on portion control, clean eating and supper food shake, Shakeology. My mind feels sharper, I have more energy, feel stronger, and overall better appearance. We also hope to be blessed with a second child soon. I am excited to see the changes in pregnancies as I will have a better understanding of what I can do fitness wise, as well as nutrition!I am 28, work a full time job at a High School and a few side jobs to help bring in extra money (cosmetology, event planning, family water garden, painting cornhole boards, way too busy). I decided to become a Beachbody Coach because I know first hand that the programs and Shakeology works! I want to help others achieve their fitness goals, provide healthier options for them and their families, and discover that if you dedicate yourself you will see a change. Becoming a coach has not only improved my nutrition, it has also made me hold myself accountable, and hopefully allow my husband and I to drop some of the extras as a result of the extra income. I am always looking for anyone who would like to improve their fitness and nutrition, or to join my team and become a coach too!
